Clinical research

Clinical trials unit

New studies open up new treatment options. Participants can get to know new medicines – often used in everyday medical practice only years later – before they reach the market.

Why take part?

Access to the therapies of tomorrow

As an experienced trials unit we enable our patients to take part in international clinical studies – with the closest medical supervision.

  • Early access to innovation

You gain access to new active substances that are often only available to the wider public years later.

  • Intensive supervision

Study participants are closely supervised by our experienced trials team – with regular examinations and personal contact.

  • Expense allowance

Participants receive an allowance for their time and their contribution to medical research.

How taking part in a study works

It is important to us that you receive answers to all the questions that matter to you before you take part in a clinical study. That is why every participation is preceded by several conversations with you.

Participation possible

MARITIME-CV

Clinical study for people with cardiovascular disease and overweight/obesity – active substance: maridebart cafraglutide (AMG 133)

  • GLP-1 activation + GIP inhibition
  • International
  • With/without type 2 diabetes
  • From 45 years of age
  • Monthly injection

Who can take part?

  • Men and women aged 45 and over
  • BMI ≥ 27 kg/m²
  • Confirmed atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), e.g. heart attack, ischaemic stroke, peripheral arterial disease, ABI < 0.9, amputation caused by atherosclerosis
  • With or without type 2 diabetes

What to expect

  • Monthly injection – maridebart cafraglutide or placebo
  • Dosing schedule over 16 weeks, then a monthly maintenance dose
  • Regular checks: blood pressure, laboratory values, weight, ECG
  • Participation for about 3 years (double-blind) + optionally 2 years open-label
  • Close medical supervision by our trials unit
  • Expense allowance for participants

Aim of the study

The study examines whether maridebart cafraglutide reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events and improves metabolism in the long term:

  • Lower risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death
  • Fewer hospital stays and vascular procedures
  • Improvement in weight, blood pressure and blood glucose
  • Reduction of inflammatory markers

How it works

Maridebart cafraglutide belongs to an innovative class of substances that activates GLP-1 and inhibits GIP at the same time – with the aim of reducing weight, improving metabolism and having a positive effect on cardiovascular disease.

    Obicetrapib

Clinical study for people with cardiovascular disease and elevated LDL cholesterol. It examines whether obicetrapib lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke and serious cardiovascular events – in addition to statin therapy.

    • Aged 18 and over with known cardiovascular disease
    • LDL cholesterol elevated despite statin treatment
    • Taken daily (tablet)
  • 2024

    Baxdrostat (CIN-107)

    Closed
    Baxdrostat

Clinical study for people with hard-to-control high blood pressure. It assesses efficacy and safety in arterial hypertension that is insufficiently controlled despite existing medication.

    • Aged 18 and over with diagnosed arterial hypertension
    • Blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmHg despite 2–3 medicines
    • Taken daily (tablet)

    CagriSema

International study for people with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It examines the effects of CagriSema on blood glucose, weight and cardiovascular health.

    • Aged 18 and over, BMI ≥ 27, with/without type 2 diabetes
    • Existing cardiovascular disease
    • Weekly injection, duration about 1 year
  • 2024

    REIMAGINE 2-Studie

    Closed
    CagriSema

Study for people with type 2 diabetes. It examines how well CagriSema lowers blood glucose and supports weight loss – compared with semaglutide, cagrilintide or placebo.

    • Aged 18 and over with type 2 diabetes, BMI ≥ 27
    • Treatment with metformin, with/without an SGLT2 inhibitor
    • Weekly injection over several months
